Virgin America and Banana Republic team up to beautify the skies

Virgin America is working hard to make major-airline flying as luxurious as it once was. According to a Huffington Post article published today, Banana Republic has been commissioned to return the skies to their former stylish glory through a redesign of Virgin America's uniforms.

The designers at Banana Republic reportedly focused on the functionality of the uniforms, along with form.

"We chose fabrics that would be wrinkle-free yet comfortable, even adding a bit of spandex to shirt, pants and skirts to provide a bit more elasticity for moving around, while also thinking to lengthen the shirts to prevent them from coming un-tucked," said Simon Kneen, Banana Republic's execuetiv vice president of design and creative director in his interview with the Huffington Post.

The entire aesthetic is sure to add a fashionable element to Virgin America flights.

This is not the first time that Banana Republic and Virgin America have teamed up. Last fall, the popular clothing line announced that it would be running a special "Mad Men"-themed collection, with help from the show's costume designer. In the beginning of March, Banana republic had a surprise fashion show of looks from the collection on a Virgin America flight from New York to L.A.

Banana Republic anticipates that the new Virgin America uniforms will be so popular that they won't just be coveted by other flight attendants, but by jetsetters themselves as well. Trench coats, aviator sunglasses and bags for men and women from the collection will be for sale to the public.
