The Great American Beer Festival in Denver should not be missed

Although there are plenty of great things to do and see in Denver, one event that should not be missed if you live there or are visiting is the Great American Beer Festival (GABF). Held at the Colorado Convention Center at 700 14th Street between October 11 and 13, this gathering is sure to appeal to experienced and novice ale drinkers alike.

The GABF was started in 1982 and various tasting sessions give attendees the opportunity to choose from more than 2,000 beers from some of the nation's 500 best breweries. Whether you prefer an IPA from Louisiana-based Abita or a blonde ale from Denver Renegade brewing company, you can find it at this festival.

In addition to tastings, there is also a competition. Breweries enter their beers, which are then judged by the GABF's professional judge panel. Luckily, you don't have to be deciding who will take home first place as ticket-holders can also sample the ales that have entered the contest.

Tickets are approximately $65 and doors open at 5:30 p.m. The members-only session on October 13 begins at 12 p.m and will cost you $55 to get in. As part of the entry fee, attendees will receive a commemorative tasting cup, program and unlimited one-ounce samples of all the beer.

The GABF is expected to draw more than 49,000 people over the course of the three days. As a result, parking is going to be near impossible so you may want to consider making transportation reservations with a luxury car service like Hermes Worldwide. Their experienced chauffeurs will take the stress out of getting and leaving the convention center so you can focus on enjoying yourself.
